Born
in Coulsdon,Surrey, now living in Woodmansterne. I
have been playing guitar from age 11 and playing in bands since I was 16.
Starting off in a country/rock n roll band, I had my first taste of a
recording studio aged 17. In the late 80’s to early 90’s I was in a band
called ‘Split Decision’ playing a mixture of my own songs and covers at
various venues including The Gun in Croydon. Recording some of my songs at
the BBC studios in the Strand along the way. From 1997-2004 I was in a
covers band ‘Kopykat’, playing bass guitar around the South
London clubs and at
various functions. In 2005 I went back to lead guitar and
occasionally played in a duo around the London pubs and stood in for ‘Kopykat’
a couple of times whilst looking around to find a new function band.
In
2006 I got together with a bassist and drummer to form a trio called Off The Record. We are now gigging and
2007 has been a great year so far. The 1st gig of the year took
us to Coventry where we played
at the ‘Classic Formula 3 racing club’ annual event. An excellent crowd and
a good start to the year. 2008 is shaping up to be even better.
I have a
small studio with a digital 16 track recorder which I used to record my
first CD. In 2005 the track ‘Nothing Going On’
reached the finals of the UK Songwriting Contest in the Jazz/ Blues section
which also helped me to gain a Diploma in Music (Guitar performance).I
entered 3 songs in the songwriting contest in 2006. All 3 songs reached the
semi-final stage.
I
am currently writing and recording a 2nd album.
